Medical clearance: Traveling with Air France

In most cases, medical clearance is not required for travel with Air France.

Should you consult your doctor before traveling?

Air France recommends that you consult your doctor to ensure you are fit for air travel if you are:

  • pregnant,
  • have recently undergone surgery,
  • have a limb in a cast.

Situations requiring medical approval from Air France

Medical clearance from Air France’s Medical Service is mandatory in the following situations:

  • Contagious diseases
  • Need for medical care or specific medical equipment
  • Health issues that could be life-threatening
  • Difficulty traveling in an upright sitting position
  • Health conditions that may result in unusual behavior, affecting the comfort of other passengers or flight safety
  • Traveling without a companion in circumstances where psychological support may be needed
  • Recent surgeries, including cosmetic procedures

Important: Medical clearance must be given shortly before your trip to ensure that the information is valid.

How to obtain medical clearance for travel

To obtain approval from Air France’s Medical Service, please complete this form, which consists of two parts:

  • Complete the first part of the form yourself. Our assistance service or your travel agency can help you with this process.
  • Your attending physician must complete the second part of the form.

Send the completed form to Air France no later than 48 hours before your departure, to the email address indicated on the form.

Our Medical Service will review your request and confirm whether you meet the conditions required to travel.
